Biography

Degree Major Emphasis/Program Name Institution Year
Ph.D. Organic Chemistry Texas Tech University 1999
B.S. Chemistry Oregon State University 1988

After graduating from Oregon State University, Martin Campbell worked in a federal government lab on chemistry related to metal separation problems for six years.  Taking the next step of his dream to teach college, he joined the research program of Dr. Richard Bartsch at Texas Tech University. He did crown ether and host guest chemistry as well as being exposed to the then nascent field of ionic liquids. He also received mentoring in classroom teaching as well as research from two outstanding mentors.  After two years as an instructor at Texas Tech, he moved to Henderson State University where he taught primarily organic chemistry, mentored students, and sponsored student clubs. After a four-year stint as department chair, his position was eliminated through budget cuts. Starting at 妻友社区 in fall 2023, he is excited to explore new opportunities and grow professionally and personally.
