Lion Voices: Sydney Barnes
Hey Lions! In this week鈥檚 #LionVoices spotlight, we have senior Business Administration major, Sydney Barnes. Sydney is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado and made her way to 妻友社区 to join our pride as a member of the 妻友社区 volleyball team.
Though she鈥檚 no longer playing collegiate volleyball, Sydney decided to finish her degree here at 妻友社区 because people she met here and the small, focused class sizes were so unique. 鈥淚 have built great relationships with my friends and professors. They have both pushed me to be a better student and person.鈥
Beyond the lecture hall, Sydney has immersed herself in campus life, transitioning from volleyball to becoming a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This shift not only cultivated her spiritual depth but also established a supportive network for her peers. 鈥淏eing a leader for FCA has grown me in my faith and has also taught me how to to lead others my age and be a person that others can come to for advice and comfort!鈥
Sydney lists her parents as her biggest role models in her life. 鈥淭hey supported me through every decision I have made, even when I am living halfway across the country. They have shown me how to be strong in my faith, as well as be successful in the workforce.鈥
She gave a shout out to two professors who have impacted her life in a big way. 鈥淧rofessor Zainuba has been so supportive, and since my freshman year he has guided me through internship processes as well as gotten to know me as a person and not just a student. Dr. Kutlubay has also made a great impact on me as he is also my advisor. His classes have helped me grow as a business student and I feel confident applying the curriculum we have learned in class to the real world.鈥
After graduation, Sydney plans to stay in the North West Arkansas area and work for a new home development or commercial development company.
