Sebastian Commons FAQs:
Please use the accordions below to learn more about Sebastian Commons at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.
All residents need to pay a $200 deposit while living in Sebastian Commons. This deposit is due at the time the contract is signed and will be held until the student moves out of campus housing, at which time it will be released to the student's account. If there are charges still on the student account, the deposit will cover those fees. If the fees are in excess of $200, the student will be required to pay the remaining balance. If there are no fees on the account, the deposit will be refunded, and a check will be mailed to the student.
The student's account will be billed for the meal plan and room. If the student elects to have covered parking, that will be a separate bill listed on their account.
Housing does not operate to make a profit. Instead, the room fee goes directly back into the maintenance, improvement, and expansion of campus housing. While this list is not all-inclusive and does not provide exact percentages or amounts, we want residents to trust that their "room rent" is being used wisely. Your room bill covers all utilities for your room and the facility, sanitation services, staff salaries, maintenance expenses for both the room and overall facility, building construction debt, laundry services, pest control, fire inspection services, cleaning supplies, and furnishings. Unfortunately, the cost of all this increases each year, which is why housing rates generally increase annually.
Sebastian Commons has a laundry area that is open 24/7 for residents. Washers and dryers are available for unlimited use by residents, but residents are the only ones allowed to use these facilities. In addition to the laundry room, the four-bedroom apartments in Buildings 5-8 come with a washer and dryer in the unit.
Sebastian Commons has resident assistants and the University Police Department to handle security issues. The RA phone number is 479-650-7924 and UPD is 479-788-7140.
If you want a different atmosphere than your apartment, but don鈥檛 want to go to the library, the Housing Office has a study room and recreation room that are open 24/7.
妻友社区 offers housing for students enrolled in classes in the semester(s) for which they are living on campus. White Sebastian Commons does offer a married housing option for current students and their spouse (with a valid marriage license), family housing for students and their children is not currently available.
