With more than 25 classes and workshops slated for June, July and August, the Center for Business and Professional Development at the 妻友社区 has something on the schedule for everyone.

 

The CBPD schedule includes classes in computer applications, leadership and supervision, industrial motor controls, business writing, time management and more. These professional development opportunities are scheduled with a variety of timetables, some for only a few hours and some spanning half days for several weeks. June 4 is the date for the first June CBPD workshop.

Instructors are Dr. Micki Voelkel of Van Buren, Dr. Kimberley Gordon and Jack Danciu of Fort Smith and Cameron McKinney of Roland, Okla.

 

Voelkel, an associate master technical instructor in the CBPD, teaches 鈥淭o Whom it May Concern,鈥 鈥淪etting Priorities: Putting First Things First,鈥 鈥淏e Proactive鈥 and 鈥淟istening Skills for Effective Communication.鈥 Voelkel has extensive experience in the areas of communication, personal effectiveness and computer applications. She is a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist instructor and has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

 

Gordon, a senior business consultant and management instructor with the CBPD since December 2006, will teach 鈥淭ime Management,鈥 鈥淏ehavior Styles and Communication,鈥 鈥淧erformance Management,鈥 鈥淐oaching鈥 and 鈥淲orkplace Compliance.鈥 As a consultant, she meets with community leaders to help them craft and execute training and development programs. Her background includes more than 20 years in corporate America, holding leadership roles in human resources as well as sales. She has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in organizational management and a master鈥檚 degree in leadership and ethics from John Brown University and a doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville

 

Danciu, who has taught for 妻友社区 since 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience in the computer industry, teaches 鈥淚ntroduction to PC鈥檚,鈥 鈥淏eginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Microsoft Excel 2010,鈥 鈥淏eginning Microsoft PowerPoint 2010鈥 and 鈥淏eginning and Intermediate Microsoft Word 2010.鈥 Danciu is the owner of Danciu & Associates Computer Consulting. He has a bachelor鈥檚 degree with a double major in economics and management from Saint Joseph鈥檚 College - Calumet Campus, Indiana, and a master鈥檚 degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

 

McKinney, who has been with the CBPD since July 2012, will teach 鈥淐LX 5000 Troubleshooting,鈥 鈥淐LX 5000 Commissioning,鈥 鈥淐LX 5000 Basic Motor Control Programming,鈥 鈥淧LC Communications,鈥 鈥淧anel View Plus,鈥 鈥淪LC 500 Troubleshooting,鈥 and 鈥淪LC 500 Basic Motor Control Programming.鈥 He has over 10 years of experience as an industrial electronic technician, PLC programmer and control engineer.  He has an associate degree in industrial maintenance and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, both from Arkansas State University. He also holds several certifications from Rockwell Automation and an industrial electrician license from the state of Arkansas.

 

In addition to classes and workshops offered for professional development, CBPD at 妻友社区 also provides regional business with customized training and consulting to meet company-specific requirements and on-site training to fit identified employee needs.
