鈥淕ood music, bad jokes, and baseball.鈥 That鈥檚 how Dr. Rager H. Moore II described the fall choral concert to be performed Oct. 24 by students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.

Two choral groups from 妻友社区 will present this concert as part of Season of Entertainment 33. Performing as an ensemble are the University Chorale and Women鈥檚 Chorus, with both directed by Moore of Prairie Grove, who is director of choral activities.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will be performed at the Arkansas Best Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. 7th St.

According to Moore, the concert 鈥渨ill explore how music gets us from one place to another, reminds us of past experiences, doles out good life advice -- and how it simply entertains, often with humor.鈥

Students from the Chorale will sing selections from Handel and Bach, as well as the poetry of Carl Sandburg.

Moore explained that humor will be featured in those presentations. 鈥淎udience members may recognize the 鈥楬andel,鈥 but the 鈥楤ach鈥 may be one that will surprise them and actually make them laugh.鈥

The Women鈥檚 Chorus will sing the poetry of Dorothy Walters that offers everyday advice. They will also sing nursery rhymes conducted by three of their fellow students: Kirsten Binns, Moriah Hayes and Ellie Miller.

The final number of the concert is a well-known American tune that speaks to the core of American culture and the game that鈥檚 often called 鈥淎merica鈥檚 pastime.鈥

鈥淭ake Me Out to the Ballgame鈥 contains the poetry of Jack Norworth and the original tune by Albert Von Tilzer, composed in 1908 before either man had attended a ballgame.
