Seventeen members of the Phi Beta Lambda chapter at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith returned from the Arkansas PBL State Leadership Conference with a total of 22 awards and recognitions.

Sixty-five percent of the winners (11 members) qualify to represent 妻友社区 and Arkansas at the PBL National Leadership Conference this summer in Nashville, Tenn.

Lead adviser Dr. Ahmad Rahal of Fort Smith said this year's PBL group 鈥渉as done an excellent job鈥 in raising an excess of approximately $1,350 for the March of Dimes and Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The chapter also earned four first place awards, seven second place awards, seven third place awards, three fourth places, and one fifth place award.

 

Individual and team awards include:

Alma: Christina Seaton, second place in Emerging Business Issues (with teammate Brittany Christian) and third place in Microeconomics; Wil Moon, second place in Future Business Executive.

Cedarville: Morreen Klement, second place in Financial Analysis and Decision Making (with teammate Rebecca Bolton), third place in Financial Services, and second place in Who's Who in PBL recognition.

Fort Smith: Matthew Beyer, second place in Accounting Analysis and Decision Making; Jessie Burton, third place in Marketing Analysis and Decision Making (with teammate Issai Carranza); Brittany Christian, fifth place in Community Service Project (with teammates Rebecca Bolton and Jennifer Connell) and second place in Emerging Business Issues (with teammate Christina Seaton); Jennifer Connell, fifth place in Community Service Project (with teammates Rebecca Bolton and Brittany Christian); Michele Howard, first place in Small Business Management Plan and second place in Organizational Behavior and Leadership; Robert Lopez, third place in Cost Accounting and fourth place in Future Business Executive; Kaitlyn Schoeppey, first place in Microeconomics; and Syda Xaymongkhoun, first place in Accounting for Professionals and third place for International Business.

Greenwood: Rebecca Bolton, second place in Cost Accounting, fifth place in Community Service Project (with teammates Jennifer Connell and Brittany Christian), and second place in Financial Analysis and Decision Making  (with teammate Morreen Klement); and Ryan Napier, fourth place in Business law and third place in Macroeconomics.

Lavaca: Brittany Wilson, third place in Business Communication and first place in Cost Accounting.

Rogers: Issai Carranza, fourth place in International Business and third place in Marketing Analysis and Decision Making (with teammate Jessie Burton).

 

Two members, Wil Moon and Andrea Wolfe, both of Alma, also serve as state officers in the organization.  Wolfe is the director of state programs, and Moon is the executive president.

Phi Beta Lambda is an organization for students preparing for careers in business or business-related fields and is the college division of the Future Business Leaders of America.
