A revival of a classic Tony-Award winning musical will come to downtown Fort Smith for a show at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1 as part of the University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith鈥檚 Season of Entertainment 36.

鈥淧ippin鈥 will be performed in the ArcBest Performing Arts Center in the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 S. 7th St. Tickets are $42-45, depending on the seating tier.

The endearing musical tells the story of a young prince longing to live a fulfilling life of passion and adventure. Filled with high-flying acrobatics and wondrous music, the original production won five Tony Awards out of 11 nominations, and the 2013 revival notched another 10 Tony nominations and four awards. The show is recommended for ages 12 and older.

Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, said the musical is one of the premier shows in this year鈥檚 season schedule.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a unique show in that it鈥檚 high-flying and fast-paced, and it has a memorable story and wonderful acting,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to be able to bring a show of this caliber to Fort Smith. It鈥檚 one people aren鈥檛 going to want to miss.鈥

The show is part of Season of Entertainment 36, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the 妻友社区 featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
