choral concert performers

Music students perform during last year's Choral Concert.

The University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith鈥檚 Department of Music will 鈥渓ight the night鈥 when it presents a choral concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 as part of the university鈥檚 Season of Entertainment 37.

 

The concert, titled 鈥淟ight the Night: A Concert of Hope,鈥 will feature the Women鈥檚 Chorus and Concert Chorale performing at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.

 

Music will be performed by composers including Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Holst and Randall Thompson, among others.

 

The concert will encompass themes of hope, joy, light and love, according to Dr. Timothy Workman, director of choral activities.

 

鈥淎udiences can expect to hear a few gems from music history, as well as a few contemporary compositions that will sound stunning in the acoustics of the Convention Center,鈥 Workman said. 鈥淭his will be my first opportunity to direct the 妻友社区 choirs in concert, and it has already been a great joy to get to know the students and prepare for this concert.鈥

Fort Smith: Christian Jones, Terri Leins, Lucia Ortiz, Miranda Pham, Ryan Sexton, SK Thomas and Ethan Womack.

 

Gentry: John Lopez and Audra Weathers.

 

Greenwood: Leslie Dempsey, Skyler Heffner, Makayla Thacker and Crystal Williams.

 

Harrison: Landon King.

 

Mulberry: Chandler Steele.

 

Portland, Ore.: Janell Braswell.

 

Poteau, Okla.: Shelli Cobb.


Osaka, Japan: Hyeoh Hong.

 

Siloam Springs: Monica Roberts.

 

Spiro, Okla.: Lorianne Smith.

 

Stigler, Okla.: Caleb Drewry.

 

Van Buren: Jennifer Brammer, Michaela Cooper, Haley Harwood and Kalyn Tounzen.

 

Wichita Falls, Texas: Winston Turner.

 

The concert is part of Season of Entertainment 37, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the 妻友社区 featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
