鈥淐urrents鈥 by Mayumana will electrify audiences during their performance at 7:30 p.m. March 31 at the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.Collage of Currents photos of dancers

The spectacular show, which combines a variety of theatrical elements including specially made musical instruments, massive video art projections and skilled performers in constant movement, is inspired by the historical Battle of Currents between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla.

 

The performance is part of Season of Entertainment 38, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the 妻友社区 and featuring a variety of plays, musicals, and symphonic performances. Tickets for the show are $33 or $35, depending on the seating tier.

 

鈥淭his is the first time 鈥楥urrents鈥 has toured the United States, and we鈥檙e excited to be one of the first presenters of this Israeli show right here in Fort Smith, Arkansas,鈥 said Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events.

 

According to their website, the power of each Mayumana creation comes from the strong emphasis placed on the unity and synchronization of the group as a whole. At the same time, the talent and beauty of the individual performer are highlighted and celebrated. Mayumana鈥檚 playfulness extends beyond the stage, reaching out to engage in direct interactions with its audiences of all ages and cultures.

 

Two decades after its inception, and featuring performers from more than 20 different nationalities, Mayumana has become one of Israel鈥檚 leading cultural exports. The troupe has entertained millions of people around the world with its international touring cast, as well as in its home theatre, The Mayumana House, which is located at the old harbor of Jaffa.
