The award-winning Scottish band Skerryvore will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 28 as part of the University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith鈥檚 Season at the Blue Lion.

 

Skerryvore will play at The Blue Lion at 妻友社区 Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd St. Tickets are $25.

 

The group will perform a unique fusion of folk, traditional, rock, and Americana that represents the different personalities and upbringings of the eight band members who hail from different regions of Scotland.

 

鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to present an act that has twice won Scotland Traditional Music 鈥楲ive Act of the Year鈥 awards (2011 and 2016) and played with acts like Red Hot Chili Pipers and to bring this unique, global show to the Fort Smith market,鈥 said Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events.

 

Formed in 2005, the band boasts a touring history that took them from the remote Isle of Tiree on to international tours that have included performances in Central Park in New York, the Ryder Cup in Louisville, Ky., and China鈥檚 Shanghai Expo.

 

The band is currently on a global tour celebrating the release of their sixth studio album, 鈥淓VO.鈥

 

The show is part of the university鈥檚 Season at The Blue Lion, a lineup of musical performances held at the university鈥檚 downtown venue featuring local and nationally recognized musicians.
